On April 16, 1960 54 years ago today rock and roll performer Eddie Cochran, 21, was fatally injured in a taxi crash shortly before midnight in Chippenham, Wiltshire, England. He died the next day. Cochran was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and 1987 and his pioneering contributions to the rockabilly genre won recognition from the Rockabilly Hall of Fame.

The Cowboys look good until December and once again have started losing. The New Orleans Saints are undefeated and have the best offense I have seen in some time. I am very tempted to pick the Cowboys to end the Saints undefeated streak, but it IS December. New Orleans 35, Dallas 24.

Cleveland at Kansas City
Two of the worst teams in the NFL (they both beat the Steelers though) do battle in Arrowhead Stadium. Go with the home field advantage, Chiefs 21, Browns 13.
Arizona at Detroit
The Cardinals are trying to get in position for another late season run to the Super Bowl like last year. Detroit just wants this season to be over. Arizona lays one on the Lions 41 to 17.
New England at Buffalo
The Bills have a decent offense at times but their defense is not so hot. New England is not the team they used to be. But Tom Brady and company should be able to beat the Bills 28 to 20.
Miami at Tennessee
The Titans are trying to fight their way into wild card contention and the Dolphins are trying to catch the Patriots Alshon Jeffery Authentic Jersey and win the AFC East. The Dolphins can’t pass but the Titans can’t stop the pass. Both teams want to run the ball and stop the run. I think Tennessee will do that a little better this week. My week 15 NFL prediction is Tennessee 24, Miami 17.
Atlanta at the Jets
The Falcons are beat up and at the time of this writing it is unclear if Matt Ryan and or Michael Turner will play in the game. The Jets are decent but turn the ball over too much. However they should take the Falcons, 21 to 17.
San Francisco at Philadelphia
The hot and cold 49ers are trying to improve but the Eagles are already good. My week 15 football office pool pick is the Eagles win 28 to 17.
Houston at Saint Louis
The Texans are good one week and bad the next but the Rams suck all the time. Houston stomps a mudhole in them to the tune of a 35 to 7 victory.
Chicago at Tim Jennings Women Jersey Baltimore

His college days in the past, though, Crichton has mellowed on that stance, saying Sunday situation isn a prime motivator for him.

Former NFL Players Call for Concussion Education
The second congressional hearing investigating how the NFL manages concussions for their current and retired players was held yesterday, January 4, 2010 at Wayne State School Derek Carr Women Jersey of Medicine by the House Judiciary Committee.
The initial hearing held in October, Johnny Manziel Browns Jersey 2009, ended with the NFL commissioner, Roger Goodell, denying any link between multiple concussions and permanent brain injury in football players leading the members of the committee to ask for continued investigation and an additional hearing.
Recent Steps Taken by NFL to Protect Their PlayersHowever, since that time, there has been a dramatic turnaround starting by the NFL starting with the NFL commissioner admitting that multiple concussions sustained while playing football may have lasting permanent brain damage.
The NFL has also taken a number of immediate steps towards protecting their current players (stricter return to play guidelines, independent neurologist for each team) and working with their retired players to support the ongoing brain research at Boston University’s School of Medicine (encouraging retired players to donate their brains to research on chronic traumatic encephalopathy).
Testimony from Retired NFL PlayersWith testimony provided by several former NFL players and coaches, it is apparent that concussion education needs to begin with the current NFL coaches, staff, and players. Testimony was provided stating that players were under pressure to return to play during the games in which they were injured (Anstett, Patricia, Free Press, January 5, 2010).
One former player, Bernie Parrish (played for the Cleveland Browns) testified that the league and NFL Players Association are guilty of denying the problems associated with concussions and is documenting it in his soon to be released book entitled "Delay and Deny" ( Anslett, P., Free Press, January 5, 2010).
Challenges AheadSeveral recommendations came out of the hearing towards making youths sports safer including:
banning high risk practice drillsweb training on concussion for coachesadoption of standardized return to play policyThe challenge will be to get current information on how to recognize, treat, and manage concussions into the hands of those that work with youth, high school, and college sports. With the recent firing of Texas Tech University’s football coach, Mike Leach, over the mistreatment of an athlete who had sustained a concussion, it is evident that NCAA colleges need to also review their policies on head injuries and provide training to their coaches, staff, and athletes (Fendrich, H., "NFL to Weigh Rule Changes after Studying Helmets", Associated Press, January 4, 2010).
Towards this effort, the NFL released their first public service announcement on national television last week. The 30 second spot provided basic information on concussion awareness, concluding with the statement that no athletes should return to sport without first being cleared by a medical professional.
Change Needs to Start with the NFLChange needs to start with the NFL’s treatment of their players. A number of NFL athletes have recently received national media attention due to concussions sustained during play.
